SCHOOLS, guides, and party organisers were all successful in bids for Basildon Council Jubilee funding it has been announced.
Open to residents, groups and organisations across the borough, the Council ran two separate funding streams allowing for applications for up to £1000 in funding, and has now agreed to fund 25 successful projects.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Tony Ball, said: “Through the funding streams we have now given over £16000 to local groups or event organisers to assist in celebrating the Jubilee.
It has been very pleasing to see the number of local people and different types of organisation who want to get involved and play their part in joining the national celebrations.
There is one final pot of funding, which is specifically for those groups looking to run a project that will have long term benefits for the community, and we will announcing the successful bids in the coming days.”
Applicants for the funding ranged from Basildon Lower Academies to Billericay Guides and included street party organisers, residents associations and community halls.
There were also four successful applications for Beacon event funding which has seen Billericay Town Council, Little Burstead Parish Council, Paddocks Community Association and Wickford Royal British Legion all receive money towards the running of Beacon Lighting events which will take place on the evening of Monday 4 June.
