A range of acts are set to perform at the forthcoming Play your Part Festival it has been announced.
Taking place on Thursday 24 May at the Basildon Sporting Village, the free event, celebrating the Olympic Games, will see the centre open its doors as games and activities run throughout the day.
And the day will conclude with a free ticketed event called ‘Sparks will Fly’. Part of a county wide cultural celebration of the Olympics which will see acts performing a mixture of world music and dance, culminating in the ‘Sparks will Fly’ procession, created by internationally acclaimed outdoor performance specialists Walk the Plank.
Councillor Tony Ball, leader of Basildon Council said: “We have some superb acts confirmed for the evening with everything from Street Dance to Brazilian Kapoira.
Tickets are free of charge and this is a great opportunity to celebrate the diverse range of cultures that the Olympics will bring together.”
Acts confirmed include school choirs, bhangra dancers, drum ensemble ‘The Coterie Beat’, Kayzar Street Dance, South African group ‘Cultured Sounds’, Kapoira performers ‘Brazilarte’ and the Basildon battle of the bands finalists.
