BASILDON Council is supporting a charity bike ride to raise money for local causes.
The annual event, which is in its fifth year, has been organised The Rotary Club of Basildon and will start from St Martin’s Square at 10.30am on Sunday May 20.
Those who take part can pick from a choice of three different routes, including a three mile family ride, 40 mile ride through Weald and Thorndon country parks and a 20 mile all road route.
The ride is £15 to enter and all funds raised will go towards Basildon hospital’s new children’s A&E department and Basildon young carers.
Councillor Kevin Blake, cabinet member for leisure and arts, said: “This event is a great opportunity to keep in shape whilst raising money for a worthy cause and hopefully the weather will be kind and make it a great day for all.”
All participants should make sure they come prepared with necessary safety equipment.
